Makeups are good, shiny high heels too

So are trendy dresses and Hollywood smiles

But what drives me is none

Intelligence is sexy

Talents are glorious

And true pleasure is in wits and laughs

What Toastmasters Taught Me

 

When I first joined toastmasters, I was disappointed.

I thought it was all enhancing about enhancing your public speaking and leadership skills. But  I WAS SO WRONG!

The truth is that Toastmasters is more than that.

Toastmasters is a melting pot of ideas

Toastmasters taught me that it’s not just about what you say but how you say it.

It taught me , and I quote from toastmaster world champion , Mohammad Qantani,  that “Words have power”

No matter how you underestimate yourself , Toastmasters sends you a kindly reminder that you have a voice and this special voice of yours ought to be heard.

Stop

 

Every now and then

Make sure you stop

Just to see how far you have come

Take a peek and reflect

If there is any discovered check

Get rid of all the distraction

Or else you don’t end up in satisfaction

In order to get the reward

You must focus on the board

The Queen

Always by his side

Like the Carbon to the Dioxide

The Tom to the Jerry

And the Straw to the berry.

But one wrong move

And she’s gone

From Pawn to Queen

        

And he said she’s just a pawn

It’s okay if she’ll be gone.

But only in the end

Did he discover what it meant.

Just like you’ll never realize the value of someone

Not until you’ll discover that they’re gone.

But dear, there are no takebacks

You should have thought about that perhaps.

Sacrifices are waiting to be made

Only if you’re unafraid.

Make sure you think clever

Or else you’ll regret forever.

 

It’s good to remember

That you don’t have forever

You could lose by timeout

In case you’re full of doubt.

Don't Resign

 

And suddenly there was a blunder

Does this mean that you should surrender?

Or should you give it another chance

Hoping next time you’ll take a better glance

 

Everyone makes mistakes

And remember you have all it takes

Don’t you ever resign

In the end , you might outshine

Just Like Chess

 

      And just like chess,

Life is a mess

With many ups and downs

Smiles and frowns.

 

No one has ever won by only moving forward

Sometimes you need to take steps backward!

And things can be unexpected

When in reality you’re just distracted

 

Keep calm and move slowly

Believe that you’ll claim victory.

Be independent like the wind

Don’t you ever get pinned

Nevertheless, I wished we were in class together because although everything is going smoothly and professionally, nothing  compares to the physical classrooms
